Japanese Raw-ness

I finally got a hair cut! I decided not to get bangs quite yet but I got a trim and some much needed layers. Photos courtesy of Savannah!
The layers in the back. I'm trying to grow it back out but it still seems so short!

Dinner
Rebecca's birthday dinner was a blast! We went to Edomasa for some Japanese Cuisine.
I ordered a sunomono salad with cucumbers and seaweed. I really tried my best to stay raw but I think this dressing had sugar in it. It was really good but not entirely raw.
I dominated the pickled ginger. I love this stuff!
I made a very strange request: to have a veggie roll with no rice. They were very accomodating though and it was delicious!

I ended up ordering two of these rolls.
For dessert I had Mitsumame or Japanese fruit cocktail salad. This also was definitely not completely raw but it was vegan and very interesting. From what I understand those gel looking cubes are made of seaweed somehow? And the dark balls are red beans. It was tasty but I had less than half. I felt guilty breaking my rawness.
If I'm the girl who plays with food then Adam is the boy who plays with things. He was tapping and flinging and arranging hahaha.
I guess you could call this dessert number two? I came home and I just needed some chocolate in my life and what I came up with was the most decadent thing ever! It was Lärabar inspired Chocolate Walnut Banana Ice Cream.
  • 4 pitted dates
  • 1/4 cup walnuts
  • 1 tsp. carob powder
  • 2 tsp. cacao nibs
  • 1/2 frozen banana
I blended everything except the banana and then added the banana till it became ice cream like. The dates made it so gooey and thick. I haven't plugged this one into my phone yet but I sort of don't even want to know how dense this was! Whatever! Like Tina says on her blog, it's all about a healthy balance :)
It's well passed my bedtime now but I feel like tomorrow is going to be an easy day and all I have going on is the opening night of the opera at night!
Better get rested up!

G'night!

Thank you! In the opera world we say 'toi toi'! It's Italian. I guess there's some superstition around actually saying good luck backstage.
