Oats In A Jar for a Stress-free Morning

Good morning! You may have noticed that I posted this and the previous post at relatively similar times but I decided to keep them separate so that there I could feature Student Appreciation Day and here I could feature Oats in a Jar!!!

Breakfast
For breakfast today I had pumpkin oats in a jar, vanilla flavored java with soy milk, and a women's once a day.
In the mix:
  • 1 sliced banana
  • less than a 1/2 cup pumpkin puree
  • less than a 1/2 cup soy milk
  • 1/2 cup water
  • handful raisins
  • 1/2 cup oats
  • 1 tsp. chia seeds
  • 1 tsp. milled flaxseed
  • splash vanilla extract
  • shake cinnamon
  • shake cloves
  • 1 tsp. agave
Look at those oats!
I made sure there wasn't an obscene amount of peanut butter lurking in the jar this time since last time there was way too much and since I was in a rush I gave myself quite the upset stomach. I took my time this morning not just for the oats but so that I can start this morning off without stress.
Today is the audition for my junior recital and it's a rather big deal. It's going to be 15 minutes and the faculty will choose any of the songs on my provided list and I am expected to execute. I can totally do it I just want to do it well! This whole week I have been feeling like I can't really focus my attention on anything else until this is behind me. Also, this is the first time since I've been at this school that we are actually going to get feedback! That is both a good thing and a nerve-wracking thought!
I only have one class today so luckily I have all the time I need to dedicate to getting mentally and physically prepared for this afternoon.
Wish me luck y'all!

Pumpkin Oats in a Rush

Breakfast

This picture just would not rotate!
I only tried about a million times to get it to turn before I gave up. Oh well! This is a mug of chai tea with sugar free vanilla syrup and a splash of soy milk. A new standard I think!

I raced to whip up some pumpkin oats this morning before work so I didn't get to do all my nifty tricks like cooking the banana before and whipping for extra creaminess this time. It's alright though because oats are pretty much always delicious. In the mix
  • 1/2 cup oats
  • 1 cup water
  • 2 spoonfuls pumpkin puree
  • a splash of soy milk
  • 1 sliced banana
  • small handful raisins
  • 1 tsp. chia seeds
  • 1 tsp. milled flaxseeds
  • 1 tsp. agave
  • splash vanilla
  • shake cinnamon
  • scoop peanut butter
Vanilla Chai tea, pumpkin oats, Women's Once a Day. That's a pretty darn good breakfast!
I rushed out of the house so I basically inhaled my breakfast which was really not in my best interest in the long run. My stomach felt pretty weird by the time I got to work and I still feel sort of bloated...blaaahh. That's the price I pay for cutting it so close lol!

Lunch post coming veeeery soon!

Peanut Butter Volcano

Good Morning! It's looking bright and sunny in stressland today and I sure hope it stays that way. I am up early this morning because I want to get to campus early and practice. It's voice lesson day and I have a lot of work to do on my music.

Breakfast

I was having such a hard time getting out of bed this morning that only the thought of Pumpkin oats was about to finally rouse me. In the mix:
  • 1 small sliced banana
  • 1 small handful raisins
  • 1/4 cup pumpkin puree
  • 3/4 cup water
  • 1/2 cup oats
  • shake cinnamon, ginger, cloves
  • 1 tsp. chia seeds
  • 1 tsp. milled flax seeds
  • 2 tsp. maple syrup
  • 1 scoop peanut butter
It's a peanut butter volcano ahhh!!!
Delicious! I think I'll make myself some tea to go before I leave to keep my voice warm.

I have an appointment later today with an Ear Nose and Throat doctor and I'm kind of nervous. I think he's going to want to stick a camera down my nose... Amanda has had it done before and she said it hurts a little and is uncomfortable but really not that bad. Ugh. I'm just going to cross my fingers he tells me everything is fine!

See ya laters!

The Only Solution: The Best Oatmeal Cookies in The World!

Dinner

After class I practiced for a little while but for some reason my stomach felt completely empty. I decided to come for an early dinner. I heated up some leftover Quinoa Vegetable Paella and added Tapatio, salt and pepper.
Then I covered the quinoa with lettuce!
Since I ran out of green tea I got to buy new tea! I went with chai for caffeine and peppermint for decaf.
Quinoa + salad and a mug of Chai tea. The tea was nice and spiced!
I had a little bit of seconds :)
After dinner Savannah and I headed to campus for a late night practice sesh. We are really starting to feel the pressure of the impending recital!!
Stress is the worst feeling to have when there are a lot of important things to be done. Sometimes the only solution is: To Make Cookies!!! Savannah and I decided to make the best oatmeal cookie we could create!
We adjusted the Quaker Oats recipe just but using vegan butter and egg replacer. Looks just like the regular kind.
We added:
  • raisins
  • chocolate chips
  • roasted almonds, run through the food processor till course
There were plenty more spoonfuls that looked just like this one! I definitely ate too much dough... That's my problem, I seem to like the dough more than the actual cookies!
They turned out amazingly! They even spread out while they baked which vegan cookies sometimes forget to do.
This morning I woke up early and got ready super speedy because my friend Bobby and I decided to go to the Santa Barbara Museum of Natural History for some extra credit in anthropology. An early morning trip was all I could fit in so I packed up a lunch before I even ate breakfast.

Breakfast

I thought I wouldn't have time to make oats this morning but I planned my time out better than I expected. I ended up having time to make Pumpkin Oats! My ingredients:
  • 1 small sliced banana
  • 1/4 cup raisins
  • 1/4 cup pumpkin puree
  • 3/4 cup water
  • 1/2 cup oats
  • 1 tsp. chia seeds
  • 1 tsp. milled flaxseed
  • shake cinnamon
  • small shake ground ginger
  • small shake ground nutmeg
  • shake ground cloves
  • small handful walnuts
  • maple syrup
I used this pumpkin puree I picked up at the Coop yesterday.
I put 1/4 cup into the measuring cup and just filled the rest with water till it came to a little over a cup. The rest of the process is the same. Cook the banana alone in the pot, add raisins, add pumpkin water mixture, add oats, seeds, and spices.
I microwaved my walnuts for 45 sec. to give them a toasted taste.
Drizzle with maple syrup and voila!
Pumpkin Oats, Chai Tea, and two gummy vites= breakfast Heaven!

A report on the museum and lunch to come soon!!
